Students create artwork to be featured at exhibits
BOARDMAN
St. Charles School, 7325 Westview Drive, is hosting three art shows this year to showcase the artistic talents of students.
A Kids Art Fair took place March 24 at the school. Each student in kindergarten through 8th grade created a piece of art that was exhibited at the fair.
The 500 unique pieces were framed and matted, and parents were given the opportunity to purchase their child’s framed artwork.
The next show to take place will be the “Diocesan Regional Art Festival” from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday in the parish social hall.
On display will be 230 pieces of art created by students in the 5th through 8th grades at St. Rose, St. Patrick, St. Nicholas, St. Luke, Warren JFK, Holy Family St. Christine and St. Charles schools.
The show is open to the public, and the works will be critiqued by a panel of judges.
The final event will be the sixth annual St. Charles Museum of Art event from 5 to 8 p.m. May 15 and from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. May 16.
The works will be judged by area artists, and winners will be named at each class level.
The public is invited to attend and to cast a vote for a People’s Choice winner.
Winning pieces will be loaned by the artists to the school for a minimum of two years, sponsored for professional framing and matting, and hung throughout the school and parish building.
