Vince Cavanaugh gave up two runs over six innings to get the win, striking out four and walking two. Justin Hughes had two singles and an RBI and Anthony Lucas added an RBI single for Struthers. Chris Long singled three times for LaBrae (1-4) while Trey Yoho had a single and an RBI.

The Bulldogs scored the go-ahead run in the fourth inning and were able to hold off the Indians on quality pitching by Justin Misterka (3-0) and reliever Darrell Brammer. Joe Augustine went 2 for 3 with an RBI.
Springfield 16, Lisbon 6
NEW MIDDLETOWN
Nine runs in the bottom of the ninth inning allowed the Tigers to romp past Lisbon, despite a double and two runs scored by Cody Helman. But four errors by the Blue Devils led to four runs.

Julie Sokol and Nicola Gabriele combined to pitch a no hitter. Jamie Massaro and Marra Cercone had two hits and two RBIs while Danielle Petrus tripled and had two RBIs.

Amanda Callahan (3-0) tossed a five-hitter with three strikeouts and five walks to get the win for Fitch (3-1). Carly Ortz homered, singled and drove in two, while Alyssa Jones and Alana Callahan both doubled and drove in two runs.

Jamie Clausen pitched a one-hitter with seven strikeouts and no walks to get the win in the opener. She also had two doubles, two singles and two RBIs, Shayla DeCapita had three hits and Christina Hrehor had two hits, including a homer for Mooney (6-0). In the second game, Clausen had four hits, including a homer, and drove in six runs, Macy Ucchino had three hits and Cadi Sheffler tossed a five-hitter with three strikeouts and five walks to get her first win.

Samantha Bumgardner had three hits, Creelyn Provitt had a double and Angie Custer added a homer for Harding (1-4). Cory Pracko doubled and tripled for the Rockets (2-3).

Freshman Darrian Yanek made her varsity debut, pitching a five-hitter with 10 strikeouts and no walks for South Range (5-1). Kristin Robinson had three hits, including a double, and two RBIs and Madison Yanek had two hits.

SALEM
Warren Harding senior Marvin Logan won both hurdling events and was a member of the winning 4x200-meter relay to lead the Raiders to a convincing victory at Friday’s Cope Invitational at Reilly Stadium. Senior Andrew Zitnik won the 200, finished second in the 100 and was part of the winning 4x100 and 4x200 relays for the Raiders, who captured eight of the 16 events. Marteze Roper won the 800, Rio Johnson won the high jump and Aaron Wilson won the shot for Harding, which finished with 129 points. Massillon Perry was second with 92 points and Fitch third with 83. The Falcons won the 4x400 relay, while Salem’s Zach Penick (400) and Dustin Matak won individual events.
