May car show set at St. Nicholas

STRUTHERS

St. Nicholas School, 762 Fifth St., will be the setting for a car show from noon to 6 p.m. May 8.

There will be a $10 registration fee the day of the show, $8 for early registrations.

There will be raffles, door prizes, food and a DJ. Trophies will be awarded in different categories.

Registration fees can be mailed to St. Nicks Car Show, c/o D. Collingwood, 512 Fifth Ave., Struthers, OH 44471.

Comic Book Day set All-American Comics and Cards at 1295 Boardman-Canfield Road, Boardman, and at 161 W. Market St., Warren, will present comics for all ages during a free Comic Book Day from noon to 5 p.m. May 1.

A wide array of comic books will be given away by the participating stores. For additional information, call (330) 393-3137.

Rotarian honored

YOUNGSTOWN

Rotary International recently presented its prestigious ”Paul Harris Fellow” award to Michael Shaffer, a member of the Youngstown Rotary Club, in appreciation of his assistance in creating friendly relations among the people of the world.

The speaker at the March 31 meeting of the club was Suzanne Barbati, executive director the new Roger and Gloria Jones Children’s Center for Science and Technology to be opened this fall.

Welcomed as new members were Cheryl Lewis of the United Way and Capt. Charles Foster, district coordinator for the Salvation Army in Mahoning Valley.
