Lane restrictions
campbell
Beginning Monday, motorists may encounter occasional lane restrictions on 12th Street between Robinson and Coitsville roads.
A $400,000 investment of 100 percent federal stimulus funds is for resurfacing.
The Ohio Department of Transportation’s contractor for the project is Shelly & Sands Inc., Zanesville. The project is scheduled to be complete by June 30.
Motorists will notice new signs at the construction site, announcing “Putting America to Work: Project Funded by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.” Similar orange-and-green signs will be erected when work begins at stimulus-funded projects across Ohio.
Teacher dies tutoring
NEW CASTLE, Pa.
A 44-year-old teacher died of a heart attack while tutoring students during lunchtime Thursday at Neshannock High School.
Lawrence County Coroner Russell Noga says Neshannock High School teacher John Thompson of Grove City had a family history of heart problems. The autopsy was Friday.
Noga says Thompson collapsed Thursday and was pronounced dead a short time later at Jameson Hospital.
Superintendent Mary Todora said Thompson was tutoring four students when “he just fell over.”
Students summoned another teacher, and a school nurse tried to revive Thompson with cardiopulmonary resuscitation.
Thompson, who taught biology, was hired in 1994.

Medical forms

Township police hope medical-contact forms for residents will make responding to an emergency more effective. The form can be accessed on the township’s Web site www.austintowntwp.com by clicking on the “medical contact form” link under the police tab.
Residents are asked to give information such as their address, identifying marks, medical conditions and primary method of communication to aid township safety personnel if they’re called to that person’s home.
The form is “an effort to handle issues involving residents with autism or other medical issues as best as possible,” a news release states.
Forms can be downloaded from the Web site and either mailed or delivered in person to the Austintown Police Department, 92 Ohltown Road. For more information, visit www.austintowntwp.com or call (330) 270-5105.
