Victim helps catch robbery suspects
WARREN
A 23-year-old city man was robbed of $400 in the parking lot of the Save A Lot grocery store on North Park Avenue on Thursday but followed the robbers and helped catch the suspects.
Shane D. White, 30, of Royal Mall Drive, Niles; Ryan L. Allen, 26, of Atlantic Street Northwest, Warren; and Damion Q. Coleman, 33, of Homewood Avenue Southeast, Warren, were arrested at a home on Meadowbrook Avenue Southeast shortly after the 11:30 a.m. robbery.
Each pleaded innocent Friday in Warren Municipal Court to robbery, a felony punishable by up to eight years in prison. Bond was set at $20,000 for each man.
The victim said White approached him and demanded money, then placed his hand in his pocket, suggesting that he had a weapon, police said.
After getting cash, White got into a car parked on Forest Street and fled east.
The victim got in a car and followed White’s car, calling 911 and giving police the license-plate number.
The victim lost the suspect vehicle around Youngstown Road and Kenilworth Avenue Southeast.
Police learned that the owner of the suspect’s car lived on Meadowbrook, so police went there and spotted White, Allen and Coleman getting out of one car and into another.
Police recovered $200 in cash from the three men.
