Shootings probed in 2 areas

City police are investigating separate shootings taking place less than 90 minutes apart in the early hours Thursday.

According to police, a 32-year-old South Side man was arguing with an unidentified man in the parking lot of a bar in the 1300 block of Logan Avenue just before 2 a.m. The man’s 24-year-old cousin from the North Side tried to intervene and break up the argument, but shots were fired.

The 32-year-old man was shot in the right leg. His cousin was grazed in the left leg.

Both men were taken to St. Elizabeth Health Center for treatment.

A 17-year-old teenage boy was shot on the South Side a short time after the North Side shooting.

According to police reports, the teen was walking on Rush Boulevard near East Boston Avenue coming from a friend’s house at 3:21 a.m. when he noticed a dark Chevrolet Tahoe truck circling the area. The teen told police several men got out of the vehicle and began shooting at him.

The teen told police he began running through backyards along Boston and did not stop until he reached his South Side home. Once home, he realized he had been shot in the left thigh.

The teen told police he has no idea who would want to shoot him. He was taken by a family member to St. Elizabeth for treatment.
