Public viewing today for late Ohio Supreme Court chief justice


COLUMBUS (AP) — One week after his death, Ohioans are getting several opportunities to pay tribute to state Supreme Court Justice Thomas Moyer.

The public viewing of Moyer’s body will be from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. toay in the courtroom at the Supreme Court building in downtown Columbus. The court says members of Moyer’s family will be there to receive visitors.

A public funeral service will follow Saturday morning at First Community Church in Marble Cliff, just west of Columbus. Burial will be private.

Also, a public memorial is being planned for Law Day, May 1, to honor Moyer and his achievements. Details are pending.

Moyer was 70 when he died last Friday after being hospitalized for a gastrointestinal problem.
