Vladimir Cruz hit a two-run homer in the sixth inning for Mountain State Academy (7-3). Drew Diangelo doubled. Logan Kane and Josh Foster had the Falcons’ hits and Kane scored their run in the fifth inning. The loss eliminated Fitch (2-4) from the Mingo Bay Classic.

Mathews 2, Southington 1

SOUTHINGTON

Jimmy Hoffman’s two-out double in the seventh inning rallied Mathews past Southington on Wednesday. Winning pitcher Collin Bowser struck out nine batters and walked none. For the Wildcats, Brandon Ellis struck out eight batters and had a RBI single.
