PITTSBURGH

A western Pennsylvania bus driver is charged with drunken driving after investigators say his bus nearly hit a police officer in a Pittsburgh crosswalk.

Port Authority of Allegheny County police say 53-year-old Anthony Larkin, of Shaler, was drunk on the job when he nearly hit a Pittsburgh police officer escorting someone across a downtown street Wednesday morning.

Investigators say Larkin initially refused to provide his license to police and pushed a port-authority police officer who came to investigate.

Authorities say Larkin was taken to a hospital for a blood tests. Results weren’t available Wednesday.

Larkin faces charges including driving under the influence and disorderly conduct. A phone number for him could not immediately be located Thursday.
