Career center students earn medals
Students in the Early Childhood Development program at the Mahoning County Career and Technical Center competed in the 2010 FCCLA Early Childhood Development Competition Mar. 6.
The students competed in three categories: language and literacy, concept curriculum and teacher resource kit.
With each of these categories the students had to research, develop and present lesson plans, activities and kits that met the state’s content standards for Early Childhood Education.
Jessica Grizinski, a senior from Boardman, earned a gold medal for the language and literacy event.
Grizinski received a perfect score of 100 percent from all three judges and will be attending the State Leadership Conference to compete in April.
In addition to Grizinski, Brittanie Barnes from Boardman competed and earned a bronze medal in concept curriculum. Brittany Blinksy from Struthers earned a bronze medal in teacher resource kit, Dasjah Grace from Austintown Fitch earned a silver medal in teacher resource kit, Hannah Meech from Poland earned a gold medal in language and literacy, Alex Yoho and West Branch earned silver medals in concept curriculum.
