Banquet honors swimmers who made a splash

Canfield swim and dive team members Garret Trebilcock (left) and Emily King were High Point award-winners. The team ended the season with a banquet Mar. 24.

The Canfield High School swimming and diving team honored its members Mar. 24 at its annual end-of-the-season banquet.

Honors went to 10 seniors, including divers Emma Pierson and Elizabeth Wilkens and swimmers Allie Butta, Daniel Carlozzi, Steven Dalvin, Johnna Dunkel, Emily King, Kathryn Mason, Sam Smith and Garrett Trebilcock.

Coach Andrea Linnelli presented the High Point Awards to Garrett Trebilcock and King.

The Most Improved awards went to junior Hilary Allen and sophomore Mark Dalvin.

The Coaches’ Awards were presented to Mason and freshman Nick Montalto.

Steven Dalvin received the Matt Kostelic Award for the senior team member with the highest grade point average.

Also honored were diver Elizabeth Wilkens and swimmers King and Garret Trebilcock for their individual event state meet participation.

Girls team relay members who went to state were also recognized. They were Allen, King, Dunkel, Mason and alternate, Gia Velasquez. The boys team relay members who went to state were Steve Dalvin, Ryan O’Malley, Garrett Trebilcock, Gavin Trebilcock and alternate, Mark Dalvin.

The boys’ relay team also earned All-America honors.

The team members selected to the All-American Conference team were swimmers Allen, Steven Dalvin, Dunkel, King, Mason, O’Malley, Garrett Trebilcock, Gavin Trebilcock, Velasquez, Drew Wellham and diver Kip Olson.
