Pa. police sweep pulls 101 trucks from service


HARRISBURG, Pa. (AP) — Pennsylvania State Police issued more than 1,000 traffic citations and took 101 trucks out of service in a one-day commercial truck enforcement effort last month.

State police Commissioner Frank Pawlowski says the March 31 sweep focused on seat-belt use, vehicle inspections and service logs.

Police say about 2,300 trucks were inspected across the state, with 1,130 citations issued. Ninty-four drivers were placed out of service and more than 1,500 were given written warnings.
