Poll: Onorato up in Dem primary for Pa. governor

HARRISBURG, Pa. (AP) — Allegheny County Executive Dan Onorato has a slight lead among likely voters in the race for the Democratic nomination for governor, although nearly half remain undecided, according to a poll released today.

The Quinnipiac University poll also shows U.S. Sen. Arlen Specter maintaining a lopsided lead over U.S. Rep. Joe Sestak in the Democratic primary contest for the seat Specter has held for almost 30 years.

Six weeks before the May 18 primary, 20 percent of likely Democratic voters polled said they would vote for Onorato, 15 percent said they would vote for former congressman Joe Hoeffel and 13 percent said they would vote for state Auditor General Jack Wagner. State Sen. Anthony Hardy Williams trailed with 5 percent.
