Lt. Michael Orosz will take over as commander of the Southington post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol just as the post completes its investigation of a crash that killed three young Marine Corps recruits.

Orosz, a 27-year veteran of the highway patrol now serving as commander of the Lisbon post, assumes his new position Monday, switching positions with Lt. Joseph Dragovich.

Dragovich and Orosz both have worked in their new posts before, with Orosz having served as a trooper in Southington from 1987 to 1994 and a sergeant there from 1996 to 1998. He also has worked at the Canfield, Chardon and Hiram posts.

Dragovich, whose last day in Southington was Friday, begins his duties in Lisbon on Monday. A 17-year veteran of the patrol, Dragovich served as sergeant at the Lisbon post for one year in 2004 and 2005.

Dragovich became post commander in Southington in April 2005.

Dragovich said he requested a transfer from the Southington post a couple of months ago. Orosz said he and Dragovich asked for transfers “just for a change.”

Dragovich, an Ursuline High School graduate, lives in Canfield.

Orosz is a Youngstown native who lives in Boardman.
