Deputy who sought Mahoning sheriff's post returns to work Sunday
YOUNGSTOWN — David P. Aey, who was disqualified in his 2008 run against Mahoning County Sheriff Randall Wellington because he didn’t meet the state’s educational requirements to run for sheriff, will return to work Sunday as a deputy.
An arbitrator ordered Aey reinstated to his job, but did not order back pay for him.
Aey, of Boardman, who will earn $42,355 annually, will be in the headquarters pool and will be assigned as needed to courthouse security and inmate transportation, Wellington said.
