New stores in Eastwood Mall

Two new storefronts will open in the Eastwood Mall this spring. Lion and Lamb, a locally owned Christian bookseller, will open its second storefront in the JCPenney concourse June 1.

The shop will sell a wide variety of Christian books, gifts and supplies.

Specialty foods store Fire In The Hole, which offers more than 1,500 types of hot sauces, will open this month in the Dillards Concourse.

Fresh Express recently opened its doors in the Eastwood Food Court, where it offers freshly made sandwiches, gyros, salads and smoothies.

Plant to add 100 jobs to meet GM demand

WArren, Mich.

Warren Transmission will add more than 100 jobs to meet growing consumer demands for General Motors’ vehicles.

The Warren plant supplies four-speed and six-speed transmissions for nine GM models, including the Chevrolet Equinox, Traverse, Malibu and Impala.

Sales for the Equinox were up 130 percent in the first three months of 2010, compared with the same period last year.

The new positions will be filled with laid-off United Auto Workers members from other plants in the region, the company said in a press release.
