Columbus latest city to ban texting while driving

COLUMBUS (AP) — Columbus has become the latest city to approve a ban on texting while driving.

City Council approved the ban Monday and sent the measure to Mayor Michael Coleman who’s expected to give his approval.

The ban would take effect next month.

State lawmakers are weighing a statewide ban similar to that in 20 other states. Other Ohio communities including Cleveland and Toledo also have outlawed texting while driving.
