Domestic violence

LIBERTY

Police charged Stephanie Romeo, 27, of the 200 block of East Main Street, Girard, with domestic violence after an incident about 3:30 p.m. Sunday in the 3000 block of Orchard Court. Police said she threatened a 14-year-old family member with a steak knife.

She also got into an argument with her 72-year-old grandmother, who told police she has a protection order against Romeo. Police found Romeo in a rear yard and took her into custody. She began spitting and screaming profanities, police said, and in the police car, she kicked so hard that the cruiser was rocking.

Police took her directly to Trumbull County Jail because she was combative, a behavior she continued at the jail. It was discovered that the Girard Police Department also had outstanding warrants on her. She was found in contempt Monday in Girard Municipal Court, where she was sentenced to six months in jail.

Teens rob couple

YOUNGSTOWN

Police are looking for a group of about eight teenage boys who beat and robbed a couple on the city’s South Side.

The 47-year-old man and 41-year-old woman told police they were walking in the 300 block of Hilton Avenue headed home from a bar on South Avenue at 2 a.m. Sunday when they were attacked by the teens. The woman’s purse was taken, and one of the boys fired a gun as the group ran.

Police found the woman’s purse inside an abandoned building on Hilton. A cell phone and cash were missing. The victims had minor injuries but refused medical attention, police said.

Drug charges

girard

Police charged Darrius J. Easterly, 24, of the 1600 block of Market Street, Youngstown, with possession of drugs and driving with a suspended license after a traffic stop about 5 p.m. Saturday on South State Street.

Police first observed Easterly meeting with another man, then driving to the parking lot of a fenced business at North Loraine and Trumbull that had no-trespassing signs. Police stopped Easterly because of his extremely slow speed. Once stopped, he told police he “had nothing to hide” and consented to a search of the vehicle, where police found bags with suspected crack cocaine and marijuana in the console. He is in Trumbull County Jail on the felony charge of possession of cocaine.
