Posters sought for open house at library

Staff report

HUBBARD

Hubbard-area children of all ages are invited to submit posters on why they love Hubbard Public Library as part of National Library Week observances.

Entries should be on any standard-sized paper (up to 18-by-24-inches) and include entrant’s name, school and room number on the back of the poster. Deadline to submit entries is Saturday.

Entries will be on display during the library’s open house scheduled from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday. After the open house, some posters will be moved to locations throughout the community.

The open house will begin National Library Week, and this year’s theme is “Communities Thrive @ Your Library.”

Hubbard Public Library, which has seen usage increase in nearly every service area over the past few years, serves as a technology hub for people in need of free Web access, job resources, self-help materials, meeting rooms and lifelong- learning resources.

Volunteers will serve refreshments and distribute gifts to those who attend short learning sessions designed to help library patrons get the most from their library.

Those attending also may have a photo taken with the children’s room mascot, Simon, or with special guest Officer Buckle (Hubbard police Sgt. Lou Carsone); visit with K-9s for Compassion Therapy dogs and try out BookFlix database. Friends of the Library will host a book sale.

No materials may be checked out during the open house, but volunteers will help visitors place requests for materials.
