Fires tonight in Trumbull, Columbiana counties


Firefighters responded to two fires tonight, one in Trumbull County and another in Columbiana County.

Crews from several departments responded to a blaze that damaged a Durst Drive home Monday night in Champion.

The Trumbull County Emergency Dispatch Center said the call came in around 7 p.m. The residents were home when flames broke out, but no one was injured.

Firefighters from Champion, Bristol and Bazetta townships were among those responding. The American Red Cross also was called to assist the family.

No information about the cause of the fire or the damage estimate was available tonight.

The second blaze damaged a house at 251 W. Pershing St., Salem, around 7:45 p.m.

Salem fire crews said someone set a shrub next to the house ablaze and the flames melted a portion of the siding. No one was injured.
