Filming begins Wednesday on a movie about the All-American Soap Box Derby in Ohio.
About 1,800 people showed up Saturday in Akron to audition for small roles and to appear in crowd scenes in the film “25 Hill,” which is being directed by “L.A. Law” star Corbin Bernsen. He also wrote the script and will star in the production.
Bernsen met briefly with people who auditioned, sorting them into different groups for crowd scenes and separating them by gender and age.
Proceeds from the film will go to help the financially struggling derby, which has gone two years without a corporate sponsor.
Plans call to shoot part of the movie during this summer’s race, which attracts about 600 racers and their families.
