Ex-aide at Pa. home for the retarded sues for $10M

PITTSBURGH (AP) — A fired aide at a state home for mentally disabled people is suing for $10 million claiming a western Pennsylvania prosecutor wrongly coached the home’s residents who had accused the aide of sexual abuse.

David Anderson, of Oil City, was 36 when he was sentenced in 2002 to five to 15 years in prison for reportedly molesting three disabled men he cared for at the Polk Center in Venango County.

Anderson remained free while he got an appeals court to overturn his convictions.

In the process, the Superior Court found that assistant District Attorney James Carbone committed prosecutorial misconduct by coaching the two of the alleged victims before a mental competency hearing.

Anderson’s federal lawsuit seeks $10 million from Carbone and the county.
