Sorority marks 158th anniversary

BOARDMAN

Phi Mu Sorority Alumnae met March 7 at the home of Georgia Barkett for a Founder’s Day ceremony and the observance of the 158th anniversary of Phi Mu.

Alice Citano and Patty Watson received their 50-year pins.

A special ceremony took place to honor the memory of the late Anne Metzinger.

Stambaugh pillars installs officers

YOUNGSTOWN

Donald Matthews was installed as chairman during the annual meeting of Stambaugh Pillars at the Grand Lobby of Stambaugh Auditorium.

Seated as his associate officers were Elayne Bozick, vice chairman; Carol Desmond, secretary; and Atty Carroll Thornton, immediate past chairman.

As its next fundraising project, the Pillars will host a dance in the Grand Ballroom on April 30. Music will be by Phil Dirt and the Dozers, and there will be a cash bar and snacks.

Volunteers interested in serving on the board should contact any board member.

Meetings are at noon the first Monday of each month at the auditorium, 1000 Fifth Ave.

Gateway founder to speak at brunch

CANFIELD

Neil Kennedy Recovery Clinic will sponsor its 7th annual fellowship brunch from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. April 25 at Avion on the Water Banquet Center, 2177 W. Western Reserve Road.

The speaker will be Dr. Abraham J. Twerski, Gateway founder and medical director emeritus, who will present a program on “Bill Wilson’s Discovery of the 12 Steps.”

The breakfast is a prepaid event, and payment of $15 must accompany reservations.

Refunds will not be issued for cancellations after the April 19 deadline.
