LISBON
American Recovery and Reinvestment Act funds will be used by the Ohio Department of Transportation for $2.5 million in road paving in Columbiana County. It will resurface almost five miles of state Route 45 and more than 12 miles of state Route 558.
Route 45 will be resurfaced from the junction of U.S. Route 62 in Salem to just south of Columbiana County Road 445, or Salem Grange Road, and state Route 558 will be resurfaced from the junction of state Route 45 at Teegarden Road to the junction of state Route 46, south of New Waterford. The completion date is July 31.
Spelling bee on TV
YOUNGSTOWN
The annual Vindicator Spelling Bee, which took place March 13 at Youngstown State University, will be shown from 6 to 7 p.m. Sunday on WBCB (The CW). Julia Miglets, representing Springfield Intermediate School, was named champion out of a field of 63 spellers from the region.
Sunrise service

An interdenominational Easter sunrise service will be at 6:30 a.m. Sunday in the city park.
Orders to be taken for $30 food boxes
Youngstown
Crossroads Church, 554 S. Meridian Road, will take orders for Angel Food Blessings in a box. The cost is $30 for $75 worth of groceries per signature unit, which includes meats, vegetables, fruit and more.
There are no income restrictions or guidelines. Preorder, prepay, cash, debit or credit cards, money orders and Ohio Direction Cards are accepted. Orders for the April menu will be taken on the following dates: 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Monday, next Saturday and April 12 and 3:30 to 6:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Legacy of Dr. King
Youngstown
The Baptist Pastors’ Council of Youngstown and Vicinity will commemorate the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. with a public observance at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday in the rotunda of Mahoning County Courthouse, 120 Market St. King was assassinated April 4, 1968, in Memphis, Tenn.
The event will feature musical performances by Youngstown Community School Choir Chimes and recording artist Karla Agee Seldon.
The Rev. M. LaMont Miles, pastor of Metropolitan Baptist Church, will reflect on the works of the slain civil-rights leader.
Family-swim events

The family-swim events at Warren G. Harding High School have been extended for April. The dates are April 11, 18 and 25. Times are the same as in previous months, from 2:30 to 5:30 p.m. The cost is $2 for students, $4 for adults and a maximum of $6 per family. Police investigate rape of woman, 18
YOUNGSTOWN
City police are investigating the rape of an 18-year-old city woman.
The South Side teen went out with friends Thursday night and admitted to drinking alcohol and smoking marijuana. The woman told police she went to a house near Tod Lane with friends and eventually passed out fully clothed. She told police she was being sexually assaulted when she woke up. She went to the hospital for a rape examination.
