Throwing error dooms Indians against Angels

TEMPE, ARIZ.
Cleveland pitcher Erik Stiller overthrew first base to allow Mike Trout to score the winning run in the bottom of the ninth inning to give the Los Angeles Angels a 7-6 win over the Indians on Thursday.
Efren Navarro’s sacrifice fly in the bottom of the eighth gave the Angels a 6-5 lead, but John Drennan hit Trevor Reckling’s first pitch over the wall in right field in the top of the ninth.
Angels starter Matt Palmer allowed four earned runs in 31‚Ñ3 innings.
Shin-Soo Choo homered off Palmer in the first inning, and Cleveland starter Aaron Laffey allowed five hits and three runs in three innings.
Palmer broke through in 2009 with an 11-2 record and a 3.93 ERA in 40 appearances and 13 starts for the Angels.
Reckling pitched five innings and allowed five hits and two runs, one earned, winning in relief.
Pirates-Phillies
CLEARWATER, Fla.
Jamie Moyer pitched six strong innings and Philadelphia closed out its spring training schedule with a win over Pittsburgh.
Moyer, who was named the fifth starter two days earlier, gave up solo home runs to Ryan Church and Ryan Doumit but held Pittsburgh in check the rest of the way. The 47-year-old left-hander scattered six hits while striking out three and walking none.
Moyer, who underwent three offseason operations, enters his 24th season healthy and coming off a strong spring. In six starts Moyer had a 2.02 ERA while striking out 23 and walking just one in 262‚Ñ3 innings.
DeWayne Wise added an insurance run in the eighth when he led off with a booming home run over the right field fence off Octavio Dotel.
