GIRARD

Dante Delbene had two hits, including a bases-loaded double in the second inning that broke the game open, for Girard (3-0), which led 6-1 after two innings. Delbene had four RBIs, Michael Floravit had two hits and Joe Augustine and Brandon Hunkus each had two hits. Patrick Rhodes (1-0) pitched five innings, giving up two unearned runs on five hits with four strikeouts and no walks. Augustine pitched two shutout innings of relief. For McDonald (1-2), David John had two hits, including a double.

Ursuline 11, LaBrae 0

STRUTHERS

Dave Rossi had two hits and drove in two runs to lead Ursuline at Cene Park. Pete Garthwaite was the winning pitcher, allowing two hits and fanning seven.

Niles 12, Lakeview 0

CORTLAND

Nick Charnas had four hits, including three doubles, and drove in four runs to lead Niles. Jacob Foster added three hits and three RBIs for the Red Dragons, while Evan Bollinger had three hits and two RBIs. Austin Lykins had two hits and Jon Taylor pitched a complete game four-hitter. Patrick Barrett, Bollinger and Lykins hit doubles. Darren Hamilton had a double for Lakeview.

Howland 15, Hubbard 5

HOWLAND

Senior Adam Shrodek had a four-hitter and went 3-for-3 with three RBIs in — despite six Howland errors — a confidence-boosting game for the Tigers (1-1). Shrodek had only one strikeout and one walk. Josh Davis also went 3-for-3 with an RBI, Matt Preston had two singles and two RBIs, Zac Wilson and Brandon Neilan both went 2-for-2 and Dan Lageson and Corey Hickman each had two RBIs for Howland. Senior Bo Slemons homered for Hubbard (2-1).

Beaver Local 10, Salem 9

SALEM

Travis Lynch and Ryan Smith each had two hits and scored two runs to lead Beaver Local and Nate Sanford added two hits and four RBIs. For Salem, Dan Gagnon had four hits and scored two runs.

Western Reserve 16, Mineral Ridge 8

MINERAL RIDGE

Tom Benyo had three hits and got the mound win for Reserve (2-0), which took a 10-2 lead. For Ridge (0-2), John Thomas and Dan Ferguson each had two doubles and Mike White had two singles.

East Liverpool 8, Crestview 4

EAST LIVERPOOL

Jordan Adkins had three hits, including two doubles, and scored twice to lead the Potters. For Crestview (1-2), Matt May doubled.

South Range 5, Mathews 4

NORTH LIMA

A three-run seventh inning ended the game with two outs when a single by junior Gerrad Rohan scored Phil Arsuffi. Arsuffi, a junior, had singled to push across two runs to tie the game, 4-4. Tom Delullo had two hits and two RBIs for South Range (2-0). Sommers had three hits for Mathews.

Leetonia 22, Jackson-Milton 2 (5 inn.)

NORTH JACKSON

Paul Gray had a home run for Leetonia, which had 15 hits. Junior Joe Sarisky had two hits for Jackson-Milton (1-1).

Marlington 10, West Branch 3

ALLIANCE

Mike Smith had three hits, including a double, to lead West Branch (2-1, 1-1 Northeastern Buckeye Conference). Mickey Manser added a pair of singles and Jake Stahl hit a double with two RBIs. Harrison Dickerhoof had three hits and two RBIs for Marlington (2-1, 1-1).

South Range 8, Mineral Ridge 6

NORTH LIMA

Jack McDonald (1-0) had two hits and two RBIs and pitched one-hit ball over three innings to get the win for South Range (1-0) on Wednesday. McDonald struck out six and walked three, part of a seven-walk night for the Raiders, who only gave up two hits. Vince Miller, Tom Delullo and Gerrad Rohan also had two hits and Mike Thorpe had a key two-run single in the third.

Jackson-Milton 11, Leetonia 8, 8 innings

LEETONIA

John Gerardi and Josh Kramer each doubled twice and finished with three hits to lead Jackson-Milton (1-0), which scored three runs in the eighth to secure the win on Wednesday. Derek Rummell had an RBI double in that inning to lift the Bluejays and Josh Tanner gave up just one earned run over the final four innings to get the win.
