Father, daughter killed in plane crash near Dayton
DAYTON, Ohio (AP) — The University of Dayton has scheduled a prayer service for a student and her father who were killed in single-engine plane crash.
Kacie Hausfeld, a junior early childhood education major who was on the women’s volleyball team, and her father, Thomas Hausfeld, 50, died Thursday in the crash just before 1 p.m. near Dayton-Wright Brothers Airport.
FAA spokeswoman Elizabeth Isham Cory said the private plane was headed for the DuPage Airport in suburban Chicago when the pilot reported that a cargo door was open. The Beechcraft Bonanza crashed as Hausfeld tried to return to the runway.
