Catholic Charities schedule Men Who Cook fundraiser
YOUNGSTOWN
Catholic Charities Regional Agency has scheduled its fifth annual Men Who Cook fundraiser from 6 to 8:30 p.m. April 9 at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Hall, 343 Via Mount Carmel.
“So You Think You Can Cook” has been chosen as the theme for the event, in which amateur chefs will display their culinary talents by offering samples of such dishes as sushi, lobster bisque, baklava, farfalle (bow-tie pasta) with vodka-vermouth tomato sauce, vegetarian chili and many other specialty items.
Participating as individual chefs or as groups will be: Mahoning County Probate Judge Mark Belinky; Brian Berlin; Rick Blair, Tom Macabobby and Brian Roller; Msgr. Michael Carigilio, Norman Weimer and Chelsey Santucci; Terry Daprile and Anthony Daprile; 7th District Court of Appeals Judge Gene Donofrio and Barry Franks; Deacons Ernie Formichelli and William George; Lou Fusillo; Bob Hannon; Jeff Janci; the Rev. John Keehner; Dr. David Kennedy; Don Koenig; Atty. John A. McNally; Jim Merhaut; Dan Memo, Dr. Richard Memo and Mike Rotunno; Drs. Mark Memo, Daniel Ricchiuti and Vincent Ricchiuti; Todd Sardich; Michael Sciortino; Drs. Steve Swain and Paul Rich; Kevin Tubbs and Eddie Pryor; Dr. John Venglarcik and Jerry DeJane; and Drs. Joe Zeno and Joe Graziano.
Serving as judges and presenting awards will be: Rosemary Antonucci, Shirley Christian, Ginny Pasha, Carol Holmes, Roxann Sebest, Jodi Stoyak, Whitney Ward and U.S. Bankruptcy Judge Kay Woods. Dan Rivers will be master of ceremonies.
New this year will be a celebrity bartender contest featuring AC McCullough of HOT 101 and Jim Loboy of WYTV. There will be a raffle for a dinner prepared by Msgr. Robert Siffrin, and the Revs. John Jerek and John Keehner, and a dinner prepared by the Rev. Nicholas Shori. Tickets are $5 each. There will be a silent auction for a painting donated by artist Steve Atkinson, and a Chinese auction.
Tickets for the evening are $35, and proceeds will fund 10 percent of the agency’s Emergency Assistance Program, which provides assistance with emergency utility payments, life-sustaining medications, homeless prevention and other necessities.
