Ursuline gets 6 runs in 3rd to top Niles

Each team had nine hits but Ursuline High used a six-run third inning to defeat Niles, 8-3, in a baseball game on Wednesday.
The Irish’s rally made a winner of Paul Kempe. Jeff Podolsky and David Rossi each had two hits for the Irish.
Mike Watson had three hits for Niles.
Hubbard 4, Campbell 0
HUBBARD
Robert Vargo (1-0) went the route on a one-hit, 11-strikeout effort for the Eagles (2-0).
Tim Schiraldi had two doubles and Todd Gasior another for the Eagles. Campbell is 0-1.
Struthers 7, Champion 6
STRUTHERS
Mike Kunzer singled, doubled and scored a run and Tyler Serich tripled, singled, scored a run and had two RBIs for Struthers (1-1), which held off a Champion rally in the seventh. After the Flashes scored twice and had the tying run on third, pitcher Cory Sass induced a game-ending groundout to get the save.

GIRARD
Michael Floravit hit a two-run double in the seventh to help Girard (2-0) rally rally from a 4-1 deficit to get the win in JFK’s opener. Floravit also scored a run and A.J. Weibel hit a bases-loaded sacrifice fly to score Dante Delbene with the game-winner.

Alex DeSalvo had two hits and scored twice, Sam Weinardt walked three times and scored a run and Tristan Reynolds scored twice for Crestview (1-1).

EAST PALESTINE
Luke Barker had two hits, including a double, and three RBIs to lead Columbiana (2-0). Kyle Shaffer and Tyler Denmeade added two singles for the Clippers, with Shaffer driving in two runs Josh Saverko was the winning pitcher.

Kyle Leifheit and Garrett Berrera each singled for Southeast (0-1).

Nick Lesky went five and two-third innings and allowed only three hits for the Quakers. He also had a base hit, scored two runs and brought home a runner.
