Art gallery in Niles mall celebrates poetry month

The Art Outreach Gallery in Eastwood Mall will kick off National Poetry Month with its fourth annual school art exhibition.
The exhibit, which runs Friday through April 18, features artwork by local kindergarten through 12th-grade students.
The show includes student artwork from Warren schools, Trumbull Career and Technical Center, Trumbull County Educational Service Center’s annual high school art show, Arts Excel, Montessori, and Music Lessons for Us All in Poland. The gallery will also include a display of the winning poems from the Pig Iron Literary and Arts Works Poetry Contest.
Overwhelming response to the exhibit prompted the gallery board of directors and Eastwood Mall management to provide a second storefront to display artwork. The second storefront is located next to the current gallery along the Sears concourse.
Schedule of events during the show is as follows:
3:30 to 7:30 p.m. April 9 – Trumbull Career and Technical Center art and senior show, sale and reception.
6 to 8p.m. April 12 - Warren City School District art reception.
7 p.m. April 13 - poetry reading and contest by Pig Iron Literary and Arts Works in Youngstown in the mall community room
6 to 8 p.m. April 14 – Trumbull County Educational Service Center annual high school art awards and poetry reading.
All receptions and performances are free and open to the public.
