“Hank” (8 p.m., ABC): Kelsey Grammer returns to prime time in “Hank.” He plays a sports retail tycoon who needs to downsize his life after being forced out of the company. Let’s just say it’s no “Frasier” and leave it at that.

“The Middle” (8:30, ABC): “The Middle” is one of the brighter new offerings of the season. It stars Patricia Heaton (”Everybody Loves Raymond”) as a frazzled Indiana mom overseeing a hilarious brood of oddballs.
