Scrappers seek companies for trick-or-treat night

NILES — The Mahoning Valley Scrappers baseball team is looking for area businesses to participate in this year’s trick-or-treat event from 6 to 8 p.m. Oct. 21 at Eastwood Field.

Companies that participate will receive free table space on the team’s concourse. They may distribute information and decorate their table as they choose.

In addition, the team asks that each company provide candy for an estimated 1,500 children.

Contact Billy Richards at the Scrappers office by Oct. 17 if interested. Space is available to the first 30 companies that reply.

Tickets for the Oct. 21 event go on sale Oct. 5 for $1 at the Scrappers’ ticket office. The event is limited to the first 1,500 children 12 and younger. Parents don’t need tickets to attend.

The proceeds will be donated to the Luke Holko Fund. Luke is the 4-year-old Trumbull County boy struck in the head by a foul ball at a Scrappers game late this summer.

Hermitage siren tests

HERMITAGE, Pa. — The Hermitage Fire Department will conduct its monthly test of the city’s weather-warning sirens at 10 a.m. Thursday.

The test will include activation of the Clark, Farrell, Sharpsville, West Middlesex and Wheatland weather sirens. Citizens are asked to disregard the sirens during the test.

Unity Day observance

WARREN — Someplace Safe Inc. will celebrate its annual Unity Day at 7 p.m. Oct. 5 in Courthouse Square to remember victims of domestic violence and celebrate survivors.

The observance takes place in conjunction with National Domestic Violence Awareness Month in October. This year’s theme will be “Intervention.”

The speaker will be Judge Thomas Gysegem of Warren Municipal Court.

Divorce recovery

HUBBARD — A divorce- recovery program is in session now, with meetings from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesdays at St. Patrick Church Administration Building, 225 N. Main St.

It is open to people of all denominations and provides an opportunity to network and learn how to deal with the pain and difficulties of separation and divorce.
