Colangelo scores 5 touchdowns as Monaca tops Shenango, 45-26

SHENANGO, Pa. — Joe Colangelo ran for five touchdowns covering 56, 16, 6, 3 and 1 yards and rushed for 242 yards in 27 carries to spark Monaca past Shenango 45-26 in a Big Seven league game on Saturday.

Colangelo had three of his TDs in the second quarter as Monaca (2-2, 1-1) scored 26 points in the period to surge ahead by 33-12 at the half.

Ricky Matthews scored a pair of TDs for Shenango (3-1, 1-1) covering 65 and 5 yards and rushed for 143 yards in 11 carries.

Anthony Koscuiszko also scored for Shenango on an 80-yard kickoff return, while Joe Seaburn also tallied on a 16-yard run.

Volleyball

Ashtabula Edgewood 25-24-25, Fitch 18-26-19

ASHTABULA —Fitch’s Britnay Weidenthal had 15 assists and six kills; Kacie Roche had eight kills, four blocks with one point; Chrissy Volsko had seven digs, three service points with two aces and Jesscia Maslach had 13 kills at the Lakeside Tournament Saturday.

Fitch 25-25, Ledgemont 8-16

Weidenthal had seven assists, two kills and one block; Roche had five kills and Amanda Callahan had four service points, three aces and three digs.

Fitch 25-27, Mooney 20-25

Maslach had five service points, one ace, nine kills and one block; Sami Ragan had 12 assists and one kill and Volsko had seven digs for Fitch (4-9).

Soccer

Fitch 8, Salem 1

Adam Bohr had three goals and Trevor Yacovone and Kyle Kosco each had two for Fitch (4-5-1).

Anthony Savko had a goal and an assist, Bohr had two assists and Brandon Jankowski and Adam Justice each added one.
