Artistic fundraiser is benefit for Rich Center for Autism

WARREN — “The Art of Autism” is the theme chosen for the second annual dinner, art sale and auction to take place at 6:30 p.m. Oct. 3 at DiVieste Banquet Room, 754 N. River Road NW, as a benefit for the Rich Center for Autism at Youngstown State University.

Featured at the fundraiser will be the display and sale of artworks created by Mauro DiVieste, a Warren artist and father of an autistic child. There will also be a dinner, cash bar, special music and art created by children attending the Rich Center.

DiVieste conceived the idea for the event after his son Mikey was diagnosed with autism and enrolled at the Rich Center.

Last year the event generated just under $4,000 for the center. The proceeds directly enhanced programs, which helped children with autism learn to function successfully in society and to lead productive lives.

Autism is a neurological disorder that affects 1 in 150 births. Currently 55 children are enrolled at the Rich Center .

Tickets for the benefit event are $25 and are available in advance by calling the Rich Center at (330) 941-2047. Tickets will also be available at the door.
