Rose show winners are announced
COLUMBIANA — Columbiana Rose Society is announcing the winners of its 49th annual rose show Sept. 12 at National City Bank.
The following were judged the best of their class:
• Queen of Show (Dainty Bess), and Mini King of Show (Jennifer), exhibited by Annabelle Sitler.
• King of Show (St. Patrick), by Deb Bowman.
• Princess of Show (Peter Frankenfeld), Mini Queen of Show (Pierrine), and Mini-flora Princess of Show (Autumn Splendor), by Bill and Marilyn Deitsch.
Road Runners club will meet Sunday
YOUNGSTOWN — Youngstown Road Runners Club will meet at 9 a.m. Sunday at the Wick Recreation Area, at McCollum Road and Belle Vista Avenue in Mill Creek Park for a run/walk of varying distances. Club trustees will preside. Go dressed to run and take a friend. The host is Rick Hart. There is no cost; all are welcome.
Chili’s plans to donate profits to St. Jude’s
Chili’s Grill & Bar will donate 100 percent of all profits on Monday to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital as part of Create-A-Pepper to Fight Childhood Cancer campaign.
Create-A-Pepper honors National Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, and in five years has raised $25 million for St. Jude’s.
The campaign for Monday involves all Youngstown area Chili’s Restaurants during normal business hours.
Football tickets contest to benefit United Way
Two tickets and a limousine ride to the Oct. 18 Cleveland Browns vs. Pittsburgh Steelers game in Pittsburgh are the prizes being offered as a promotion between Panera Bread and the United Way of Youngstown and the Mahoning Valley.
To enter, visit Panera Bread to receive a loyalty card. When you buy five You-Pick-Twos, you can redeem the card for a free You-Pick-Two and enter for a chance to win the prize.
When you redeem your card, you have the option of supporting the Browns or the Steelers. The Steelers container will represent the local United Way, which will receive $1 from each card redeemed.
Anniversary show planned by seniors
NILES — The 10th anniversary of Seniors on Parade will be celebrated with a performance of “Seniors for All Seasons” at 3 p.m. Oct. 11 at Niles Middle School.
Featured at the event will be the Youngstown Connection and Chord of Appeals.
Doors open at 2 p.m.; there are no reserved seats.
The donation is $7, and tickets can be purchased by calling (330) 545-6281, from any cast member, or at the door.
