Pa. police looking for those involved in kidnapping, beating of teen in Farrell

FARRELL, Pa. — A teenager was tied up with rope and duct tape and kept in a closet for several days in the city, Southwest Regional Police report.

The victim also was beaten by whomever kidnapped him. He is in a Pittsburgh hospital, police said.

Police said they found Patrick Ryan Mendoza, 18, of Gilbert, Ariz., lying naked on the floor of an upstairs bedroom at 1143 Fruit Ave. at 3 p.m. Friday.

His hands and feet were bound to the back of his body. He also had rope and a plastic bag wrapped around his neck.

Mendoza had managed to get out of the closet and had broken a window with his head to scream for help, police said. He had cuts from broken glass and serious injuries to his face and neck from being beaten, they said.

He was taken to UPMC Farrell, then transported to Presbyterian Hospital.

The hospital said it had no information on Mendoza late tonight.

Police do not say in their report where Mendoza was when he was kidnapped, why he ended up at the Fruit Avenue house or if he described his kidnappers to them. They could not be reached for further information tonight.

They asked in their report for anyone with information on what happened to Mendoza to call them at (724) 983-2720.
