CAMPBELL — A Youngstown man who led police on a high-speed chase from Campbell into Youngstown was arraigned Friday in Campbell Muncipal Court.

Quentin Jones, 21, of South Jackson Street, was still in the city jail late Friday afternoon. He is eligible for release on a $4,500 bond.

A passenger in his car, Johnathan Dent, 18, of East Lucius Avenue, Youngstown, also was arraigned Friday morning. He was still at the jail Friday afternoon in lieu of $1,500 bond.

Police said Jones fled an attempted traffic stop Tuesday afternoon and led them on a chase on Wilson Avenue. He wove in and out of traffic and ran a red light at Wilson and Center Street, they said.

In Youngstown, he jumped a curb on Himrod Avenue and came to rest in a grass lot. Campbell and Youngstown police then chased Jones and Dent on foot before arresting them.

Dent had a revolver and a black face mask on him, police said.

They found white pills on Jones and a handgun in the car, they said.

Judge Patrick Cunning of municipal court here said that he found the case “quite disturbing.”

“You are fortunate to be standing here,” he told Jones. “You put yourself and the community at risk in a high-speed chase.”

Jones is charged with having a weapon while prohibited from doing so and failure to comply with a police officer’s order, both felonies with a maximum of $10,000 in fines and one to five years in prison upon conviction.

He also is charged with carrying a concealed weapon and receiving stolen property, felonies with a maximum of $5,000 in fines and six to 18 months in jail.

Misdemeanors he’s charged with are obstructing official business, possession of drugs, speeding, driving under suspension and reckless operation.

Dent is charged with carrying a concealed weapon and receiving stolen property.

Preliminary hearings are set for both men Friday morning in municipal court.
