Wounded by gunshots

WARREN — A 52-year-old Elyria man was taken to Forum Health Trumbull Memorial Hospital early Thursday with gunshot wounds after he claimed to have been hit six times by gunfire at an apartment on Elm Road where he stays sometimes.

The man said that as he left the apartment about 1:45 a.m., he saw masked men inside a neighbor’s vehicle. The man said he confronted the robbers, who began shooting at him. He was hit twice in both legs and once in the left arm and chest. Miner said he tried to get to the hospital, but the men shot at him again. After he called 911, an ambulance took him to the hospital.

A nursing supervisor at the hospital said she had no information on the man.

Lounge, customers robbed

WARREN — Three armed men dressed in black robbed Raiders Lounge, 1704 W. Market St., just after midnight Thursday. The men took an undisclosed amount of cash from the business, plus $113, a cell phone and a purse from patrons.

25 guns stolen at condo

LIBERTY — Twenty-five guns, including handguns, rifles and shotguns, were stolen from a condominium on Michigan Boulevard, police said.

Police said the burglary occurred at 8:45 a.m. Tuesday.

The homeowner is to give police a list of all the guns that were stolen, the report says. Several guns were left behind, it says.

Police said a door was kicked in at the condo, and it was ransacked.

The homeowner told police he believes the burglars backed a vehicle into his garage, because the overhead door was disconnected.

Red Cross offers training

Police seeking shooter

YOUNGSTOWN — Police are trying to determine who is responsible for firing multiple shots in a South Side neighborhood, hitting one man, one house and a business.

Police were called to the 2600 block of Glenwood Avenue at 8:30 p.m. Wednesday to investigate shots being fired in the area. Police then spoke to a 38-year-old Garfield Street man who said he had been standing in the parking lot of a convenience store on Glenwood when he heard four or five gunshots and realized he had been shot in the groin area.

The man drove himself to St. Elizabeth Health Center for treatment after the shooting.

Police discovered several bullets had entered the Big A Drive Thru store building on Glenwood. The victim was standing in the store’s parking lot.

Police reports say officers also found one bullet had landed inside a home in the nearby 600 block of Sherwood Avenue.

Police recovered 15 spent shell casings from the corner of Glenwood Avenue and LaClede Avenue.

Event in Idora Park area

After-school program

YOUNGSTOWN — McGuffey Centre’s after-school program will begin Monday. The program will run from 2:30 to 6:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday. It will offer homework assistance, tutoring, supper, recreation, karate, swimming, fitness and cooking classes. The center, at 1649 Jacobs Road, also provides transportation.
