Fowler woman convicted in fatal Mercer Co. stabbing
MERCER, Pa. (AP) — An Ohio woman has been convicted of conspiracy to commit first-degree murder and other crimes in the attack on a western Pennsylvania man and his daughter in the daughter’s apartment.
Police say 21-year-old Krystle Weaver of Fowler went with a man to Heather Lorigan’s apartment in Greenville to rob her. In the process, Lorigan was seriously wounded and her father, 44-year-old Thomas Lorigan, was fatally stabbed.
Weaver’s co-defendant, 21-year-old Ronald Machado of Jamestown, committed suicide in an Ohio jail on May 24, 2008, four days after the attack.
Weaver’s attorney blamed the crimes on Machado, but a Mercer County jury found Weaver guilty Thursday of playing a part in the crimes. She faces a mandatory life sentence.
