2 men to be arraigned on various charges

STAFF REPORT

CAMPBELL — Two men who were arrested after police chased them into Youngstown were expected to be arraigned this morning in Campbell city court.

Johnathan Dent, 18, and Quentin Jones, 21, both of Youngstown, fled an attempted traffic stop in Campbell at 3:17 p.m. Tuesday, police there reported.

Police said they tried to pull the car over on Monroe Street after it failed to make a complete stop at a stop sign while turning onto Murray Avenue.

Jones was driving, police said. He sped west on Wilson Avenue into Youngstown, losing control of his car at various times. He went through a red light at Center Street and Wilson and wove in and out of traffic, police said.

He turned right on Himrod Avenue, jumped a curb and came to rest in a grass lot.

With Youngstown officers helping, police chased them on foot. Dent was caught on Hine Street. He had a revolver and a black face mask on him, police said.

Police found Jones in woods nearby. A bag with white pills was found on him, police said. When police checked his car, they found a handgun, their report says.

They were held at Campbell jail without bond until their arraignments this morning.

Dent was charged with carrying a concealed weapon, obstructing official business and receiving stolen property.

Jones was charged with carrying a concealed weapon, obstructing official business, receiving stolen property, not stopping for a stop sign, reckless operation, driving under suspension, failure to comply with a police officer’s signal and possession of drugs.
