Television guitarist coming to Lemon Grove

Television guitarist coming to Lemon Grove

YOUNGSTOWN — Richard Lloyd, who was a member of the influential rock band Television, will perform at the Lemon Grove, 122 W. Federal St., Wednesday. The show, which includes opening acts Rocket Radio and Sam Goodwill, begins at 9 p.m. Admission is $5.

Lloyd’s newest release, “The Jamie Neverts Story,” is a tribute to Jimi Hendrix, who befriended Lloyd when he was a young man. Lloyd decided in 11th grade that he would devote all his time to playing guitar. But rather than quitting high school, he would bring his instrument to school and study it. Through his guitar obsession, he met Velvert Turner, who was being mentored by Hendrix himself. Turner introduced Lloyd to Hendrix. Hendrix shared his knowledge with the young Lloyd.
