Radiothon fundraiser planned Friday-Sunday

BOARDMAN — Akron Children’s Hospital Mahoning Valley is having its first “Miracles and Promises” Radiothon fundraiser on the Beeghly Campus from Friday through Sunday.

The radiothon will be broadcast live from the main lobby of Building D on FM radio station Mix 98.9 from 6 a.m. until 8 p.m. Friday and from 8 a.m. until 6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

It will feature stories about local patients who have received services from Akron Children’s Hospital and will spotlight hospital services and programs.

All the funds raised during the event will stay in the Mahoning Valley to benefit local children and families, officials said. Donors can call (330) 746-9090 or (888) 746-9890 anytime during the radiothon to make a pledge, or they can donate online at www.akronchildrens.org/mv.

In conjunction with the radiothon, a Children’s FunFest will be at the Beeghly Campus, 6505 Market St., just north of the Southern Park Mall, from noon until 5 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.

The FunFest will include free face painting, temporary tattoos, a Teddy Bear Clinic (bring your favorite teddy bear or doll), a scavenger hunt, craft and coloring stations, Bounce Around, clowns, Teddy Trooper from the Ohio State Highway Patrol, games, prizes and food, plus martial arts and cheerleading demonstrations. Pony rides also will be available Saturday.
