Prosecution rests its case in Eugene Cumberbatch murder trial

WARREN — After a DNA expert testified that “touch” DNA found on sunglasses and a cell phone at the murder scene may have come from Eugene Cumberbatch and a co-defendant, the prosecution rested its case in Cumberbatch’s trial on charges that he aided in the killing of two people on Wick Street Southeast April 13.

Cumberbatch, accused of firing one shot from a handgun at the house, did not take the stand in his own defense, nor did his attorney present any other witnesses today.

The jury received instructions from Judge Andrew Logan in Trumbull County Common Pleas Court before lunch and was going to begin deliberations at 1 p.m.
