Friday events offer a taste of First Night Youngstown

STAFF REPORT

YOUNGSTOWN — First Night Youngstown is more than three months away, but organizers of the New Year’s Eve event are getting the party started Friday.

First Night Fridays begins at 6 p.m. Friday on the outdoor patio of Cassese’s MVR, 410 N. Walnut St.

The event features the Classic Cruisers, a local band.

The First Night Fridays offers guests a “slice of First Night,” with events held at various downtown venues featuring live entertainment, said Sandra Cika, First Night’s director of marketing.

First Night Youngstown is an alcohol-free, family-friendly New Year’s Eve celebration of the arts in and around downtown and the Youngstown State University campus. This year’s event will mark the 10th anniversary of First Night Youngstown.

First Night buttons are $10 for adults and $5 for students, military personnel and seniors. Children 12 and under are admitted free. The buttons will be available at First Night Fridays events.

The next First Night Fridays event will be Oct. 2 at the Lemon Grove, 122 W. Federal St., and will feature local rock band The Zou.
