Choice of meals offered at fundraiser

YOUNGSTOWN —Living Testimony Ministries, 34 Jacobs Road, will offer patrons a choice of meals when they attend a fundraising dinner from 11:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday.

A dinner of Spanish rice and beans, rice and chicken, meat pies, corn and cake will be available for $8, and a meatball spash dinner with chips, cake and pop will be $6. Carryouts will be available.

Fundraiser to support Junior League projects

YOUNGSTOWN — The Junior League of Youngstown will host a fundraising event from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at Possessions Boutique, 945 Boardman-Canfield Road, Boardman.

During the fundraiser, shoppers will be given a 15 percent discount on purchases. Ten percent of the sales will be donated to support the mission of the league and its community projects.

Shoppers will also have the opportunity to purchase raffle tickets for the League’s Passport to Prizes fundraiser. Prizes include $1,500 in cash and an assortment of other valuable prizes.

Walk to benefit Farm Sanctuary

AUSTINTOWN — The Farm Sanctuary’s 2009 Walk for Farm Animals has been scheduled for Oct. 3 at Austintown Township Park, 6000 Kirk Road.

Registration will be at 9 a.m., and the walk will begin at 10. The $15 advance registration fee entitles the walker to a T-shirt designed by Josh Hooten, founder of Herbivore. Registration on walk day is $20 and does not guarantee a T-shirt.

Walk will help fund Teen Straight Talk

VIENNA — The 5th Annual Walk-A-Thon to benefit Teen Straight Talk will be Oct. 3. Participants in the “Walk for Truth” will walk around the Teen Straight Talk office at 1393 Youngstown-Kingsville Road.

Knitters, stitchers invited

NEWTON FALLS — Newton Falls Public Library’s Knit ’n’ Stitch Club is inviting knitters and stitchers to join the organization. Meetings are at 4 p.m. every other Thursday at the Palmer meeting room in the library. Those interested can learn basic knitting.

Walk to Remember

YOUNGSTOWN — Northside Medical Center has scheduled its 22nd annual Walk to Remember for 10:30 a.m. to noon Oct. 3 in the Medical Education Building Politis Auditorium, 500 Gypsy Lane.

The walk is a nationwide event that raises awareness of perinatal grief and ensures the sensitive care of parents who experience the death of a baby.

HUBBARD — A divorce recovery program is available from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday evenings at St. Patrick Administration Building, 225 N. Main St.
