Ohio doctor charged in 2006 death of his wife

LIMA, Ohio (AP) — Authorities have arrested an Ohio doctor in the 2006 death of his wife.

Dr. Mark Wangler, an anesthesiologist in Lima, was taken into custody Monday and is in jail on $1 million bond.

Allen County Sheriff Sam Crish said investigators never stopped working the case but declined to say what evidence led to the doctor’s arrest. A grand jury charged Wangler with aggravated murder.

An autopsy on his first wife, Kathy Wangler, showed that she died of carbon monoxide poisoning.

According to a sheriff’s report at the time, Wangler called emergency responders to the home early on the morning of Sept. 4, 2006. He said he woke to the sound of a carbon monoxide alarm, attempted to wake his wife but she was not responsive.
