Columbiana, Boardman earn net triumphs


BOARDMAN — Stephanie Sfara had 23 kills and 12 digs to lead the Boardman High volleyball team to Monday’s victory over East Palestine.

Nicole Biagetti had 19 points, 11 kills and 14 digs as Boardman won by scores of 25-18, 25-18, 24-26 and 25-20.

Amanda Larson had 10 kills and four blocks for the Spartans (9-3).

For East Palestine (7-4), Kali George had seven points, 18 kills and two blocks. Emily Sansenbaugher had five points, 10 kills and 12 blocks while Emily Stewart had 10 points and 34 assists.

Columbiana 25-25-27, Struthers 19-20-25

STRUTHERS — Haylee Goist had nine points, four kills and 11 digs for Columbiana (6-3). Marie Voitus had six points and 24 assists while Kristi Couchenour had eight points, seven kills and 12 digs.

For Struthers (5-4), Martina Jurek had six kills, one ace and four digs. Kaitlyn Opritza had seven kills, two aces and five blocks while Alyssa Olmi had 21 assists and three digs.

Mineral Ridge 25-25-25, Lordstown 21-21-20

MINERAL RIDGE — Lea Whitmer had 11 points, three aces and 11 assists for the Rams (11-2). Megan Ben made 15 kills and Jaclynn Cupp 14 blocks.

For Lordstown (7-2), Keeley Chaffee had nine kills and two aces, Kaitlynne Cassidy had four blocks and Chelsea Moherman had 12 points.

Heartland Christian 25 25 23 25,

South Range 18-15-25-18

COLUMBIANA — Kimberly Stearns scored 24 points with eight aces and made 13 digs and 19 kills for Heartland Christian (6-2).

Danielle Fry scored 14 points with four aces and made 16 digs and eight kills. Maria Shields had 24 digs and 36 assists. Lauren Mitchell scored 12 points with three aces and made four digs, four kills and two blocks.

For the Raiders, Patty Schuster scored 15 points with three aces and made 15 digs and 12 kills.

Springfield 26-25-25-25,

St. Thomas Aquinas 28-12-15-7

LOUISVILLE — Springfield dropped the first set, but bounced back to improve to 9-1.

Ashley Davis led the Tigers with 20 kills, 13 points and 33 digs while Larisa Santangelo added 11 blocks, five kills, nine points and two aces.

Brook Schrieber had 11 kills and seven points while Kallie Rogers had 43 assists and 11 points.

Crestview 25-25, Youngstown Christian 11-7

COLUMBIANA —Shanelle Davner made six kills and two blocks, and scored seven points with two aces for the Rebels.

Sarah Vanfossen scored 12 points with four aces while Morgan Newbauer had 16 assists, five digs and four points.

Crestview 11-21

COLUMBIANA — For the Bluejays (7-3), Brittney McGee scord 13 points with two aces while Jessica Ripple scored nine points and made three blocks. Caitlin Keck scored seven points.

Warren Harding 25-25-25,

Maplewood 16-16-17

CORTLAND — Tavia Dukes had 17 points and seven aces, Brittany Rumple had 11 kills and nine digs and Creelyn Provitt had 17 assists and 10 points for Harding (5-6).

Warren JFK 25-29-25, Grand Valley 22-27-17

WARREN — Kim Sylvester had 13 kills, 20 points and four aces to lead Warren JFK (8-5).

Mara Steines contributed four kills and nine points while Madeline Wilson added eight assists. Angeline Coates made eight assists and Kelsie Massacci had 36 digs.

For Grand Valley (3-2), Baily Holmes had 12 points, Cassie Swango 13 digs and Taylor Schimly two aces.
