Community day, concert planned in Smith Twp.

STAFF REPORT

SEBRING — Mill Creek MetroParks is working with Smith Township to host a community day and concert from 2 to 6 p.m. Saturday in the township’s Maple Ridge Park.

The event is free and open to the public. The park is located west of Sebring, near the intersection of Bandy Road and Ohio Avenue.

The afternoon will include events for all ages. Old-fashioned games, such as sack races, cornhole and a raw-egg toss will continue throughout the day.

Staff from the park district’s Ford Nature Center will set up displays about natural history and distribute information about its nature programs, including hikes, workshops and special events.

The MetroParks horticulture staff will discuss plants and plant life and what’s in bloom at Fellows Riverside Gardens.

There will be lawn seating, so participants should bring blankets and lawn chairs. A concert by the bluegrass band Get Out and Push, which will perform from 4:30 until 6 p.m., will conclude the festivities.

The event is part of an effort by the park district to reach out to all parts of Mahoning County, park officials said.
