Missouri State 35, Murray State 10

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — Cody Kirby threw three touchdown passes and the defense scored twice for Missouri State. Kirby threw first-half touchdown passes of 8 yards to Cadarrius Dotson and 26 yards to Jermaine Saffold. He also connected with Wes Miller for 27 yards in the third quarter. The Bears’ defense scored twice in the first half. The first came on a fumble recovery by Skylar Smith, who ran the ball back 55 yards, and the second by Waylon Richardet, who recovered Murray State quarterback Jeff Ehrhardt’s fumble in the end zone. Missouri State’s offense ran up 392 yards, led by Kirby, who threw for 223 yards. The Bears (2-1) led 28-3 at halftime. Murray State (1-2) scored on a 35-yard pass from Ehrhardt to DeAngelo Nelson with 14:13 left to make it 35-10.

Northern Iowa 30, St. Francis, Pa. 0

CEDAR FALLS, Iowa — Pat Grace threw two touchdown passes for Northern Iowa. The Panthers (2-1) led from the opening kickoff, which Jarred Herring returned 88 yards for a touchdown. Derrick Law ran for 139 yards for the Panthers of the Missouri Valley Football Conference. Grace (10 of 18, 167 yards) connected with D.J. Hord for TDs of 2 and 57 yards for Northern Iowa, which piled up 382 yards from scrimmage. St. Francis (1-2), of the Northeast Conference, was held to 40 rushing yards and 147 total.
