Boardman man dies in sky-diving accident
GARRETTSVILLE — A 30-year-old Boardman man was one of two people killed Saturday evening in a skydiving accident.
The Portage County Sheriff’s Office did not release the names of the man or woman, 22, of Brunswick, pending notification of family members.
Portage County Sheriff David W. Doak said the two people died during a tandem jump.
They had taken off from the Cleveland Parachute Club, Parkman, which is in Geauga County.
The Portage Sheriff’s office is investigating because the couple landed in that county.
His office was called around 7:30 p.m. Saturday, he said.
The investigation continues and no further details were available.
In April 2006, Bob Magnuson, assistant chief of Canfield Police Department, died in a sky-diving accident at the same Parkman Township facility.
